State Representative Doug Wozniak, R-Shelby Township, emphasized the need for greater focus on programs that support veterans, childcare, and foster care, and the need for effective policies that provide critical resources for these individuals.
“After hearing multiple testimonies in committee, it has been incredibility insightful learning about the various programs offered and how they can be improved,” said Wozniak. “As Majority Vice Chair of the House Families and Veterans Committee, I am committed to ensuring that Michigan’s veterans receive the support they deserve and that children in need have access to quality care. Veterans are the backbone of our nation, and they deserve the utmost respect and support when they return home. The sacrifices these men and women make for our country are inspiring, and it is our duty as a state to implement policies that ease their transition back to regular life.
“The childcare system is another critical area that requires more attention,” said Wozniak. “There are far too many foster children in need, and we must strengthen programs to ensure they receive the care and resources they need. Both the veteran and families’ departments require stronger oversight to guarantee that families and individuals are receiving the assistance that is necessary. It is an honor to serve on the House Families and Veterans Committee, and I look forward to working alongside organizations across the state to make a real difference.”
